Do you make changes to your home each season? Are there certain things you bring out or put away when the seasons change?
If you are one of those people, then here are some simple ways you can get your home ready for Autumn.
Get the cushions and throws out
You might have cushions and throws out all year round but this time of year calls for even more, for maximum warmth and maximum comfort. This is the time to get out your super fluffy and cosy blanket, ready to settle down in front of the fire. For more ideas on creating a cosier living room you can find it HERE.
Light some candles
Again, you may use scented candles all year round but there’s certain scents that just have to be lit at Autumn. Fireside scents, cinnamons and spices – all go well and help create a beautiful autumnal ambience within your home.
Light them when you arrive home and the scents will soon move throughout the home, also giving a real warming sensation.
Clean your fireplace
Not everyone will have a fireplace but if you do, make sure you give it a deep clean. After months of not being used during the summer, it may be looking a little worse for wear and you don’t want to breathe in all that dust and muck after lighting your fire. Cleaning it out means that when it comes to lighting the fire for the first time, it’s a much nicer experience.
Check for draughts
Now that the days and nights are getting colder, you really should check for draughts and identify any problem spots. The last thing you want is your heat to be escaping through a hole somewhere when it can be easily fixed. A draught excluder may also be a worthwhile investment.
Revamp your wardrobe
Pull out that autumn and winter clothing and store your summer stuff away. You want to ensure you are nice and warm during those icy days so a quick revamp of your wardrobe is well worth doing.
Decorate
There are so many different things going on during the Autumn months so why not celebrate with your family and decorate for them? Pumpkins outside the front door for Halloween, conkers etc – all stuff that looks great and is perfectly seasonal.
These are just a few tips on getting a home ready for the Autumn months. Do you have any suggestions of things you need to do or can do to ensure home is ready for Autumn?
