Over the last few months I have been fairly quiet on here and on my blog and if I am honest I have missed both social media and my blog but I have felt incredibly lost.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

During the last year I felt I have lost my way personally. I have missed my friends I have known for years and I have developed new friendships but I have really struggled with being included.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Over the 8 - 9 Months I have been working back with some old colleagues after accepting some work while my nail and beauty business has locked down. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Every single one of those ladies has made me feel part of a team again and if have missed that feeling of being included as part of a team.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Today we got to celebrate a very belated 50th Birthday at @MortonsFarmTearooms in #Nottinghamshire and it was lovely. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It was just what I needed to feel part of something again and it only confirms I need people in my life and I do in fact love being with people and disliking being an introvert is ok.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Who needs complicated when life is complicated enough with the world in the midst of a pandemic.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

This bank holiday we took the foot of the gas and enjoyed some family time in PJ's, watching films and generally chilling out. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Although we weren't jogging around the park we made a healthier choice as a family by taking on the challenge and swapping out standard bread for the new #Kingsmill #5050MultiSeed (no bits loaf)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So without a pair of trainers or any lycra in sight we took up the @BritMums Kingsmill #5050MultiSeed challenge to make a healthier bread swap ... OK no avocado or oily fish inside our healthier bread .. but come on small steps and all that.

Seaside Adventures⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A few months ago my Mum and Dad bit the bullet and moved to live by the sea.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If I am honest I was gutted. But my first thoughts were purely selfish. After all being my main childcares while I worked full time they have been instrumental over the last 8 years at allowing me to go back to working.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
After the initial shock of their decision and since hearing seagulls in the background on the phone when I call them. I totally 'get' why they did it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sometimes in life we sit and do nothing. We let life sweep us along and you blink and another 5 years has passed by. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am now slightly jealous my parents got to live the dream by the sea. Ollie and I have always said that would be our dream too. To be able to put on a coat and walk to the sea and clear our heads.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
However we get the best of both worlds now. We get to spend more time by the sea when we can when we visit them. Although not for a while with a broken car. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The boys are beginning to get excited about maybe even staying for a week or so through the school holidays and obviously while dropping off and picking up we would need to sample the fish and chips and ice cream. After all it would be rude not too. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am raising a glass tonight to new seaside adventures to my parents and to us too. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

For sunny days on the beach with them and for them to settle in quickly to their new home.

The New Bike⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Jacobs 5th birthday brought him a new bike and it’s been loved since he got it in February ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For me riding a bike is a life skill and I am so pleased both my children can now ride a bike and love it⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now to start our family bike riding adventures

Feeling Like A Guilty Parent⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This week I know I am not alone as I return to work in the nail and beauty industry as so many people are returning to work in personal care, non essential retail and hospitality I know feelings of anxiety are high.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We have had months of not working or trying to find bits of work in other sectors to cobble together enough to put food on the table and for me I know the parenting guilt hit a lot. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Fast forward to this week and I have been working flat out since 7.30 on Monday morning and not finishing till late at night and I love my nail and beauty job and how it makes others feel. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
However, this morning I am feeling a little guilty at the fact I havent really spent any quality time with the kids this half term. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I know that parenting guilt is something that just migrates to different things. As parents we never give ourselves a break and always feel guilty for something. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you are feeling the same as me this week and all so overwhelmed. I am sending you the biggest of virtual hugs. Getting through a pandemic anyway you can is no mean feat. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

This last year has played havoc with our lives and if I am honest this first step of schools returning has made me super emotional.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Or maybe this whole thing has made me more emotional full stop.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Afternoon Tea With Easter Eggs #AD⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

This weekend we have taken the foot of the gas and decided to spend some time as a family having afternoon tea. Creating a trial run for Easter Sunday.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Normally our Easter comprises of and egg hunt in the morning and with Ollie working we tend to only get the later part of the afternoon to spend with him. Add that with the fact we are probably still going to be facing lockdown restrictions of some kind so we are planning something that won't be effected by being at home! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Last week we received a super delivery of premium quality cakes, biscuits and goodies from @pantry_house all ideal for an afternoon spending time together and with the added bonus of their range of milk free products for Joshua in the form of these super tasty eggs so we got to have a blast just being together with nice family friendly foods ideal for Easter or any afternoon if I am honest.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Life this week as been hard.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

While my business has been closed I have taken on some extra care work with the elderly and trying to balance that through half term with having the kids at home has been hard. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I have worked endlessly long days on the days I have had childcare and after having my COVID vacinne jab a week ago today I am still feeling some pretty horrible side effects. Although not bad enough to stop me going for my second dose in May.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Through the first lockdown the kids remained at home with me, and I know that was by far the hardest thing to do. So I have very empathy for those still having to do that now and homeschool. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Generally we do not eat sugar on mass. In fact we do eat healthily l on a whole. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

However this beautiful selection was at the birthday request of Jacob. He asked for a ton of doughnuts and cookies and with nothing else occurring for his 5th birthday in lockdown we relented as a one off.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I think by the end of the weekend we were all fed up of doughnuts and cookies so its a good job its not a regular occurrence! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
However Jacob said it was the best ever day so I got brownie points
