Stuck for things to do this Autumn with the kids? There are a wide variety of things you can do during the Autumn months that the whole family can enjoy. I’ve compiled a list of our favourite things to do at this time of year. What do you like to do?
Pumpkin picking
Perhaps the most obvious activity of all but one the kids always enjoy. There are plenty of pick your own pumpkin places popping up across the country in recent years – many that are run by local farmers as a way of increasing their cash flow which is much needed whilst also giving back to the community and allowing them to buy locally.
Some places just allow you to pick your own pumpkins whereas others have mazes and places you can eat too. Well worth a visit if you have one nearby.
Trick or treating
Halloween always falls during Autumn and is always going to be a popular experience with the kids. Whether you choose to stick to your own road or venture further afield, trick or treating will always be an activity that kids enjoy.
Have a welly walk
There’s probably plenty of puddles where you are – after all, Autumn is known for being quite wet. Why not go for a welly walk – allowing the kids to get muddy and jump in puddles to their heart’s content? It is definitely something they will really enjoy.
Bake a cake
Sure, you can bake a cake at any time of year but nothing beats baking a cake during the Autumn months. The smell of the ingredients, the warmth of the oven, the scent as it bakes away. There is a reason all kids love baking and this is a great activity that you can do from the comfort of your own home.
Apple picking
Potentially not as popular as pumpkin picking but still fun to do, nonetheless. There’s something so fun about picking your own fruit and taking it from field to table. My kids love fruit and especially love picking their own – it just seems to taste so much better!
Hunt for conkers – and have a conker fight!
I bet all of us remember playing with conkers when we were younger. It was always so much fun so why not introduce your kids to the joy? Beware though, you may find your pockets chock full of the little brown things!
Do some leaf crafting
Another activity that you can do from home, leaf crafting is a great way of reusing those beautiful leaves that have fallen to the ground. There’s such wonderful colours of leaves in the UK, you can really produce some beautiful crafts.
