Well recently my bathroom certainly was a disaster, after getting the avacardo bathroom fixtures ripped out 4 years ago and being left with a really usable but yet plain bathroom when I won a competition to spend £250 at Bath & Shower.com I was over the moon to be able to titivate it.
With a local plumper fitting a new tap in the kitchen I asked him if he would be interested in the job of fitting maybe a new radiator and some much needed storage in the form of a vanity unit and he said he could fit me in. So after he measured up for the vanity unit and radiator I ordered the sizes he gave me and waited.
When the delivery of new items arrived I was over the moon, the vanity unit came fully assembled and so I called the plumber back and told me they had arrived and we were ready when he was. He booked a date in and duly turned up with his brother in tow.
During the morning he ventured downstairs to tell me that initially the radiator was a little too tall but not enough so that he couldn’t be fitted … So with it being the run up to Christmas I got on with my work.
Just after lunch the plumber came and said that they had sent for the flooring guy to come and look at the floor as there were no proper floorboards under one section of the flooring. The flooring man turned up, told me a price and that he would be back the following Monday to fix the problem and lay the new lino.
After everyone cleared off Ollie and I took stock at what we had been left with … and in fairness its was not pleasant but since neither of us are DIY people we kind of presumed that after the flooring man had been it would be all good.
For 2 weeks I chased the plumber and the floor fitter daily after no one turned up on the Monday and a week before Christmas I lost heart and called in some help
Facebook

As daft as it sounds Facebook was our last resort and with Christmas looming we were out of options.

Well my prayers were answered by an old school friend (although having not met in person for too many years to counts) He came to my rescue, although not really working in my area he decided to come and help get our bathroom safe and water tight.
As he and his colleague were working it transpired that the previous person had not only left a pipe leaking underneath the flooring he had also given the wrong sizes for the radiator and had chiselled off the the tile edging round the window to fit it. To say it had been left butchered would be an understatement.
I have to say now its finished I am loving the flooring and the vanity unit. I am a little sad that we are not able to use the beautiful traditional style radiator and had to purchase another one instead as I have no doubt had the plumber told me the right sizes in the first place we would have bought the right size … but you live and learn … I now know who I will be calling in future!

Oh what a shame! I hope you and writing reviews on CheckaTrade of both tradesmen that originally came out and never came back plus the lovely one that saved the situation. Lovely bathroom in the end! x

Sadly there are too many Cowboys around it seems, but once you’ve found a proper tradesman they’re worth their weight in gold, especially plumbers. I bet you’re glad it’s all sorted and looking good #loveyourhome
