It’s been a long time waiting in the wings for the go ahead but finally this weekend saw that start of the house overhaul and revamp after 5 years of living here its time for a full titivation!
This weekend we gutted Beth’s room, dismantled her ageing wardrobes and threw out over 13 bin liners of teenage tat to get her a more functioning space. We know it will never be the tidiest room in the house, but at least with the help of reusing our oak bedroom furniture we are able to not only save some money but also it has given her some more functional space …. plus she has no more excuses that she can’t keep some semblance of order and certainly no more excuses about not wanting to do homework on the kitchen table as she now has a desk too.
I still have some painting and some soft furnishings to sort for her but at least this is the step in the right direction!
Tomorrow sees the brand new windows and doors being installed throughout the house, followed by the painting in my bedroom, new carpet, new furniture and then its on to the hall stairs and landing.
We haven’t made all the decisions yet on what we are doing where or even what colours to go for but I am excited to finally get it underway.
I am sure Ollie is least excited about the prospect of so much sorting, decluttering and decorating that is going to be done as his wallet quivers if you get within 6 feet of removing it from his tightly sown pocket! … even by reusing the furniture we had for Beth’s room I saw him flinch at the mention of new bedding and soft furnishings all round … If only I had mastered the art of a sowing machine!

So there we have it our first step into revamp and 3 tip trips in and many more to go … did I mention I hate mess?
Wowee I can’t wait to see how you get on – I love a housey update. It looks like hard work but it’ll be worth it in the end xx
