Taking On The Challenge of Cooking The Christmas Lunch

It has been a while since I last cooked for more than just us four. However we have the pleasure of my parents coming for Christmas lunch and I am beginning to start thinking about what I need, the side dishes and what ingredients I am going to need.

Obviously tackling the festive Christmas lunch can be an immensely stressful task, as if like me you want it to be perfect and memorable it does need some serious consideration! However, I have to be honest and say that I haven’t really done much family cooking of late. Instead I have relied on the slow cooker for throw in the pot kind of meals.

Thank goodness my friends at Hello Fresh have come to my aid this festive period with their immensely helpful Christmas Dinner Guide which gives you everything you need to know about preparing for your Christmas family feast, including all-important timings and fail-safe recipes, some of which can be made in advance and some even mean my trusty slow cooker can be utilised.

This year I am planning a trial run with the new Christmas Dinner Guide so mentally I am prepared and I am now feeling less stressed and far more excited.

Place setting for Christmas in blue and white toneAlthough that in part is also down to the fact I intend to use throw away oven dishes too! .. who needs to be washing pots for hours when there are wholesome sprouts to eat … Did I mention that those green balls of goodness were one of my all time faves?

So this year I am saying good-bye to Google and YouTube and simplifying my life and my families festive feast without having to compromise on quality or quantity.

Are you cooking the Christmas meal this year? If so what are your top recipes for creating the perfect family Christmas meal?
