Renovating Your Family Bathroom

When it comes to improving your home, there are so many options, especially if you would like to boost the value of your home. You could consider modernising the kitchen, painting in neutral tones, or making the family home safer by replacing the banister with a balustrade system.

However, one of the best areas to renovate may be the bathroom. It’s a common misconception that improving a bathroom is expensive but whatever your budget, there are loads of different ways to improve your bathroom.

Increase Space
If you have a large budget, are happy to undertake a big project and possess the extra space required, you could extend your bathroom. However, for those on a budget, there are a number of interior decor tricks to make your bathroom feel more spacious.

Make the bathroom feel brighter by utilising white or pale pastel colours; replace the shower curtain with a glass bath panel; use vertical wall space instead of cabinets; and hang large mirrors to boost natural light.

Upgrade the Walls
If your bathroom has floor-to-ceiling tiles, you may feel restricted when it comes to renovation. The good news is, if retiling is not an option, there’s no need to live with old fashioned, brightly coloured or printed bathroom tiles. Set aside a weekend and purchase tile paint or stickers to totally transform an outdated bathroom into a relaxing and modern room.

Update the Accessories
Accessories can make or break any room but when it comes to decor, the bathroom sometimes gets forgotten. To make your family bathroom feel homelier, you could hang photographs, buy new jars to hold toothbrushes and soaps, put up a towel rail, add plants and flowers, or use decorative baskets to hide toilet rolls and shampoos.

Create a Spa Feel
If you would like something a little extra from your bathroom, then opting for a spa theme can make it feel more opulent. The good news is that a spa bathroom does not have to cost a fortune as you can create a spa feel in your bathroom through simple touches, such as: replacing the shower for a waterfall head, installing dimmer switches, hanging a metallic framed mirror or piece of art, and investing in luxury fluffy towels.

Renovating the family bathroom may seem daunting but it does not need to be expensive. By making small improvements, such as adding accessories and painting walls, a bathroom can be overhauled quickly and cheaply.
