Magically Reducing The Stresses of a House Move

For Sale SignsWhen you decide to uproot your life and make the big move, a whole tonne of stresses can come crashing down on you suddenly. What was once your humble abode is now somewhere filled with boxes, stressful conversations and endless viewings from prospective buyers. You want to find a new house that feels like home so that is why you have finally decided to take the plunge. You haven’t been completely content in your house for a while now and you couldn’t be more ready for the change. Here are a few ways that you can magically reduce the stresses of moving house, so that you can remain calm and cool throughout the entire process.

Assess Your Current Property

Before you start the process of moving, you need to make sure your current property is in tip top shape. Make sure you straighten out all of the flaws before putting it on the market. This could include touching up the paintwork, tidying up the garden and checking safety features such as alarms. Depending on how quickly you want to sell the property, you will then need to figure out your asking price. There are many tools to help value property, so make sure you explore as many options as you can. As long as you do your homework and are aware of other house prices in your area, you will come to the right decision quickly.

Research Locations

Once your house has been valued and it’s on the market, you might want to start looking at places to move into. It’s unlikely that your house will sell overnight, but you need to have a place in mind just in case the sale happens quicker than expected. You might want to move house in order to be closer to work, family or a partner. Keep all of this in mind when you are researching your locations; talk to people in the area and see if it is a pleasant place to live. You will soon be able to come to a decision once you have done plenty of research.

Stick to Your Budget

There’s no doubt about it, that moving is going to cost you money, so make sure you have saved up plenty before the entire process starts. You will need to foot the bill for legal fees, moving costs and any renovations that might need doing to your new home. As long as you have a clear budget you won’t have a problem sticking to it. Always leave a little bit of wriggle room for those unexpected costs too, such as professional cleaners and administration fees.

Although your moving date relies solely on the estate agents and solicitors you should always have a goal in mind. This will drive the sale forward much more quickly and give you something to aim for. Just try not to be disappointed when the date becomes extended unexpectedly.

Taking the stress out of moving house will never be easy, but as long as you follow these guidelines you will be as prepared as you possibly can be.
