How you can save money being organised this festive period

golden and red christmas gifts close upWe all know how much easier Christmas is when we are fully prepared but how exactly can you save money by being organised this Christmas period? Let me tell you. By planning ahead, you can save yourself a lot of money.

Buy gifts throughout the year

If you know that someone you buy for is still going to be interested in a certain thing later on in the year buy the item when it is on promotion now, take advantage! By buying gifts throughout the year you can get some great savings and you’re also splitting the cost, rather than trying to buy everything all at once just before!

Plan out a budget

Before it even gets to the festive season, plan out a budget. Work out exactly how much you want to spend on presents, decorations and food. Then consider other things that might come up such as work Christmas parties or Secret Santa schemes and allow some money in the budget for those too.

Book travel in advance

Travel over the festive period can be super expensive but you are more likely to get a good deal financially if you book in advance. As soon as you know where and when you are going, get it booked in before it ends up costing the earth.

Buy second hand

You don’t need to buy items new. Sometimes you can get presents or even decorations that are still decent quality but they are second hand. They will be a fraction of the price they were new but don’t look any different. Why wouldn’t you take advantage of this?

Make switches throughout the year – and put the money you saved towards Christmas

We often stick to our energy or phone deals without checking to see if we can get a better deal. Why not consider switching and use the money you have saved towards the festive season?

Declutter, declutter, declutter

You can save money this way – and perhaps even make money! Get rid of the kids unwanted toys, anything that you no longer need to make some money that you can either use towards Christmas or save for a rainy day. You’ll have a better peace of mind too.
