There are lots of causes for fatigue – poor sleep and stress are two of the most common ones. One cause that many people fail to consider? Their diet.

1 – Eggs.
Whether you prefer them hard-boiled, over-easy or scrambled, there’s a reason eggs are considered a great breakfast food. They’re rich in protein and filled with B vitamins. All of which your body requires to transform the foods you eat into energy you can use. Eggs are also a great source of D vitamins, which has also been shown to boost energy levels.
2 – Apples.
They say an apple a day keeps the doctor away, right? Not necessarily, but an apple a day can serve as the perfect afternoon pick-me-up if you’re feeling fatigued! Apples contain lots of carbs, which your body converts into energy, and they’re a good source of fibre. Apple are also immensely good to bake with. Best of all you can eat it on the move! with no prep needed.
3 – Greek yogurt.
Like eggs, Greek yogurt is filled with B vitamins – and a whole host of other healthy stuff. Packed with protein but relatively low in carbs. Greek yogurt provides fuel for our bodies that is easy to process and comes loaded with probiotics, which are essential for good gut health.
4 – Oatmeal.
This is another breakfast classic that’s well-loved for a good reason. Oatmeal is a whole grain that contains protein and complex carbohydrates. Making it a great way to energise the first half of your day and hold you over until lunch.
5 – Nuts.
Snacking on nuts can be a great way to incorporate some nutrients and healthy fats into your diet while giving you a boost of energy. Walnuts, almonds and other nuts are very calorie-dense, which means you’ll only need to eat a small handful to get some much-needed fuel. Not the biggest fan of normal nuts? 6 – Spinach.
If you’re feeling run-down, you might just need a little more iron in your diet and Spinach is a great and full of iron! Iron carries blood to your brain, so when you’re running low, it’s easy to feel a little fatigued. Blend some spinach into your smoothie. Serve yourself a big salad for lunch, or find another way to incorporate this leafy green into your diet for a huge health benefit.
7- Sweet potatoes.
Sweet potatoes are packed full of vitamins like A and C, making them a smart addition to anyone’s diet. However, if you’re feeling low on energy, sweet potatoes can give you the fuel you need to make it through your day. They’re full of complex carbohydrates, which your body burns through at a slower rate than others.
8 – Brown rice.
Brown rice can be served as a side dish with dinner or act as the base for your bowl or wrap during lunch. It contains manganese, a mineral your body needs to support many of its processes – including the process of converting carbs and proteins into energy. Brown rice also contains far more B vitamins than white rice, making it an obvious choice if you’re feeling a little low on energy!

If you want a substitute for brown rice, consider quinoa. 10 – Salmon.
