Effective Ways To Kickstart Your Day

oat flakes with fruit (banana, kiwi, apple) and milk on wooden surface. Rustic styleRolling out of bed in the morning, you wearily begin the day. Sleep still in your eyes, you try and wake yourself up with a blast of morning air from an open window, but to little avail. If only you had gone to bed earlier last night! You need something to kickstart your day; to wake you up and give you the energy for the day ahead. Here’s how to do it.

  • Eat a healthy breakfast. This is the most effective solution of them all. You see, breakfast really is the most important meal of the day, and it can give you ongoing energy until your hunger pangs strike again at lunchtime. So, don’t rely on last night’s pizza or a bar of chocolate from the fridge. Make breakfast part of your meal plan, whether that’s a simple bowl of cereal, a sensible portion of fruit, or one of these healthy breakfast ideas. Start your day the right way.

  • Choose your morning drink. If you’re in need of a quick pick-me-up, then getting your caffeine fix will certainly help, whether that’s a Two Chimps Coffee or a cup of tea (which has less caffeine than coffee). Alternatively, try Kombucha, a fermented tea that has a low-caffeine quota, but is known to offer an energy fix to those who need it. Or go for a smoothie, which could effectively replace your breakfast if you’re in a hurry, provided you choose the right mix of fruit to satisfy your waning energy levels.

  • Get some exercise. You probably don’t feel like exercising first thing in the morning, but this is a guaranteed way to raise your energy levels, even if it seems counterintuitive. Set your alarm clock a little earlier if you have to (painful, we know), and start your day with some low-intensity exercises, whether that’s going for a walk, a slow jog, or a few gentle stretches to wake up your tired bones and muscles.

  • Do some household chores. Not only will you have a tidy house when you come back from whatever it is you do in the day, but you will also perk your energy levels up when doing your chores. Such things as vacuuming, washing your windows, or even pottering around in the garden first thing, are effective ways of exercise, and will awaken your tired mind and body. Of course, you may wake up your neighbours with your vacuuming, but they probably needed a wake-up call anyway!

  • Meditate. Find a place of quiet and center yourself before heading out into your busy day. This is your time to reflect and find your inner peace, whether you let your mind gain perspective on what it is you will be doing in the day, or by using one of these meditation techniques. By starting your day the calm and peaceful way, you will be better prepared for whatever life throws at you in the minutes and hours to come.

After using these simple tips, you will be ready to go on with your day, with both body and mind awakened to handle all of the things you need to do. And when the day ends? Ensure you go to bed at a decent time, so you don’t feel so tired when the next day begins.
