Over recent months I have been taking stock of our home and although I am at the stage where a full on redecoration and flooring overall is creeping fast upon us .. Although my hubby would gladly ignore the fact the main living room carpet it is 5.5 years old and is now not event coming up clean after a carpet wash never mind staying clean… to be fair the redecoration woes is a whole other post.
What I have noticed since working from home is that in order to save money on lighting I have replaced all almost all out light fittings with energy-saving bulbs … but they are hard work on the eyes when you work from home and they are even more dreadful for videos and photographs!
Recently I discovered that in fairness I did have an alternative option as many of our light fittings, particularly the lamps and secondary lighting could have LED energy bulbs in instead.
What I didn’t realise was that LED lighting (light emitting diode) can possibly be even more cost-effective as they have a much longer lifespan of up to 20 years in some circumstances and with them lighting to full impact immediately they really should have been on my radar.
With my office space being in my living room along with family seating the lighting that once was OK is now leaving me cold and is neither cosy nor user-friendly for my eyes.
So with 2 overhead fixed pendant light fittings with no dimmer switch, I have been looking at adding lighting into different areas to firstly make it more homely and less cold in the evening and this can be done by changing the bulbs in lamps I have currently in there to LED bulbs. More importantly I have been on the look out for an LED Desk Lamp that will help managing the light while I am working.
I am not sure why we have waited so long to fix this problem .. this one doesn’t even require wallpaper paste or paint!
Have you found any other quick lighting fixes?
