OK it’s no secret round this neck of the tinterweb that I am in fact a cake monster! .. yep for the love of all things cake I love nothing more than a crunchy yet chewy variety and so on my many trips to Ikea I can often be found hanging my nose over their crispy Scandinavian cake in the cafe.
Well, recently I learnt something new … and that was that the delicious cakes you can get in Ikea you can buy in supermarkets too and go by the name or Almondy and come in the Daim and Toblerone!
Both varieties of cake are certified gluten free, Kosher, Halal and suitable for Vegetarians and with a defrost time of 50 minutes they make super puds to have in the freezer for those unexpected guests.

Almondy cakes are widely available through most UK supermarkets – a 400g cake costs just £3.00 but being hidden away in the frozen aisle means they may have remained a little of an undiscovered treasure. With 1.7 million cakes sold in the UK it’s definitely becoming less of a secret but here’s why Almondy deserves to be on everyone’s shopping list.
So if you haven’t yet discovered these beauties what do these Almondy cakes have to offer?
Almondy Daim – this combines the irresistible almond base with a golden cream and crunchy almond caramel, coated with delicious smooth milk chocolate
Almondy Toblerone – the iconic almond base is smothered with rich chocolate cream and smooth milk chocolate while on top is a generous layer of Toblerone pieces covered in creamy milk chocolate
