We all want perfect hair. You know; glossy locks that are easy to style in any hairdo we want. Unfortunately, our hair isn’t always up for playing ball. It can be quite dull, even after washed with a good shampoo and conditioner, which can be very annoying for those of us who experience this. Thankfully, though, you might not need to switch your shampoo just yet. There could be a few other ways to give a bit more life to your hair and ensure it always looks super shiny. Here are five different things you might want to try.
Soften Your Water
The answer to better hair could be in your home’s water. The type of water coming out of your taps will largely depend on the region in which you live. Some areas have hard water, which contains a lot of minerals, while others have soft water that isn’t so high in minerals. As a general rule, hair always prefers softer water. If you live in a region with hard water, though, there’s no reason to panic just yet. You can buy a home water softener that can make a big difference. It could also be worth using a clarifying shampoo as that will remove all the minerals from your hair.
Rinse With Cold Water After Washing
Lots of hair experts advise rinsing with cold water after shampooing. That’s because the cold water will seal the hair and cuticles, which can give it a glossier feel and look. Once the hair has been sealed, it will also lock in more moisture as well, so your hair shouldn’t dry out so quickly.
Don’t Use Heat Every Day
There are lots of hairstyling tools, such as hair dryers, straighteners, and curlers, that rely on heat to style the hair. All of that heat can dry out the hair if used every day. So, if you do use these tools on your hair, it’s best to try to limit it to just a couple of times a week. This gives the hair a chance to take a break and recover.
Always Use Protective Products
Don’t forget to also use protective products on your hair when you are using heat tools. There are now lots of sprays and oils that you can apply to the hair before you use your straighteners or curlers. These still allow the hair to be styled, but provide a protective coating so that the extreme heat doesn’t damage it.
Eat Plenty Of Omega Fatty Acids
There are also some foods that you should be heating for good hair health. Any food that is a good source of omega fatty acids will do your locks a lot of good, so it’s a good idea to start eating plenty of fish, nuts, and avocado. If you find that you struggle to get enough omega fatty acids into your diet, then it could be worth taking a daily supplement.
