10 Tasty Turkey Recipes To Rival The Takeaway

10 tasty Turkey Recipes To Rival The TakeawayFor me Christmas time really is one of my favourite times of the year, I adore Turkey in any shape possible, however my husband tolerates it for Christmas day and then I am stumped.

With my cooking journey still in its fledging stages I called out to the internet and my blogging chums to help me with my cooking conundrum and provide me with some inspiration on what I can have a go at cooking to keep my hubster happy this festive season and to stop him hitting  the takeaways instead!

First off on my list of tasty turkeyness are 2 recipes from the lovely Munchies and Munchkins.
turkey dinner pie
The first is the Slow Cooker Christmas Dinner Pie – This is a true recipe designed on embracing Christmas leftovers whatever they maybe and I have to say anything slow cooked is good in my book .. however don’t tell Ollie he has fears of slow cookers and some childhood nightmares…. For me this really is a looking like it might make an amazing Boxing Day dinner in my book!

Spiced TurkeyThe second recipe that Munchies and Munchkins shared with me is her Spiced Turkey Meatballs and Flatbreads which look epic! .. I personally have avoided being what I thought so too exotic, thinking that I would no way get the gist of the recipe and would get flustered … However this recipe is easy to follow and looks to be so very tasty, and I know with such lovely flavours this would one that hubs would love!

turkeyrisottoThis next recipe has 3 ingredients that are on my all time faves list .. with Turkey, Bacon and Prosecco!! The lovely Helen from Casa Costello is certainly on my wave length with her delicious looking Turkey, Chestnut, Bacon & Prosecco Oven-Baked Risotto.

I have never really attempted cooking risotto, however this is where this recipe will come into it own once again as Ollie is a total risotto whizz and so this would be perfect for him to take over the kitchen and do his thing!

turkey burgers

If you are looking for some divine inspiration and  you are looking for wheat and gluten-free, it might be worthwhile checking out the lovely Emma-Kate from The Recipe Resource who covers an amazing array of recipes all suitable for different allergy and different food intolerances

One of her fabulous recipes is right up the Christmas turkey street with these delicious looking Turkey Burgers!!

Turkey-Cranberry-RingI know some of you this festive season are going to be more social than we are intending to be, however this has not stopped me liking Nadine from Juggle Mummy’s style with her turkey offering this festive season.
Nadine’s  Turkey & Cranberry Wreath would look amazing as any party table centre piece dazzling any guest but  to top it off this recipes look utterly delicious too, so would be a win win in my book.

meatballspin1Sometimes with the complexities of Christmas I get to the stage I can’t be bothered, if I am honest I have rather more of those moments than I would like to fully admit too, but its great to hear that making the most of turkey can be super simple too.

Anna from In The Play Room recently shared her Easy Turkey Meatball recipe and what I adore about this recipe is its whole aim is to be simple enough for any beginner … which has me covered as lets face it I am still very much a beginner in the kitchen.

arabian turkeyThe next two tasty offerings come from the lovely Angela from The Life of Spicers

Angela was set a challenge and from the looks of her recipe Arabian Style Turkey with Crushed Garlic Potatoes it certainly looks like a winner in our eyes.

Arabian Turkey sounds so very flavourful and ideal for my household too with Ollie loving anything with strong and plentiful seasoning so this may be one of the first recipes I try my hand at!
turkey thai curry
Angela’s second recipe she shared with me certainly needed including … Turkey Thai Curry! … we all need turkey curry in some form over the festive period and for me its one of the highlights of left over turkey.

This recipes will have you counting the days to boxing day I am sure. Packed with flavour If it tastes even half as good as it looks it will be a treat!

turkey cutlets 5How about trying a family recipe handed down through the family like the recipe from Galina from Chez Maximka with her Turkey Cutlet recipe, ideal for making ahead of time and storing in the fridge till needed these tasty turkey treats look like they could be ideal for those impromptu gathers that sometime occur over the festive period, or maybe just to be organised at keeping the meal planning going? either way these do look rather delicious!

roast turkeyThe final recipe that was shared with me to gain some inspiration was again from the lovely Galina but this recipe is slightly different to the others in that this one is actually steeped in history and stems from many moons ago, although Galina admits this one is a slight variation on one she found online from someone else this Saffron Turkey sounds utterly amazing!

What really appealed to me is making a change from the standard Christmas Turkey offering of a plain turkey, this would be a fantastic substitute with so much more flavour and depth. So if you are looking at some ways to spice up the Turkey this coming Christmas day this might be one to try!

So what ever you decide to do with your Turkey this festive season I wish you a happy and tasty Christmas

A big thank you goes to the lovely ladies that have inspired me to do more with my turkey this year too … and hopefully stop my husband from raiding the takeaway!
