Since this is a new journey on discovering how to cook .. I have been scuppered on several recipes so far, not only am I new to cooking but I am also a lazy cook and that means if I find a recipe that is in ‘cup’ I am in trouble … I have scales and I can’t be bothered to convert so I skip right past it.
So a few months ago I was asked if OXO could help in my cooking journey and I started looking at their site.
Did you know you can buy ‘cup’ and ‘scoops’ … well the novice in me didn’t but my goodness I have fallen in love!
OXO 7 Spoon Good Grip Measuring Cups
First to experiment with was the OXO 7 Spoon Good Grip Measuring Cups and I had a cake to bake! With soft handles and non slip grips they are kind to fingers as well as doing the job they are designed for and all for a more than reasonable £9!
I really love the clear markings on the side of the cups and the really handy snap fastening that meant I could keep my drawer tidy too by keeping them all together! The set even comes with a scraper type implement which not only snaps together for easy storage but it is use to make sure the sizes are correct by helping to scrap off any excess!
The cups are dishwasher safe and come in the following sizes:
¼ cup, ⅓ cup, ½ cup, ⅔cup, 1 cup and 1½ Measuring Cups.
OXO 7 Piece Measuring Spoon
If you liked the cup, the good news is that there is a OXO 7 Piece measuring Spoons Set that matches … so its only right there is one in this giveaway too!
The spoon set also does the same as the cups in that they snap together to keep them safe and tidy. There are however a couple of nifty features in their own right like the fact spoons rest flat on the work top so don’t spill and a hanging hook too!
Like its cup counterpart they are clearly marked with sizes and come with a scraper (on the end of the hook) they also have the unique snap it fastening and these spoons come in: 1/8 tsp, ¼ tsp, ½ tsp, 1 tsp, ½ T, 1 T spoons sizes.
Spice Jar Measuring Spoons
OK now I know I am not the only one that has grabbed a spoon to get spice out and instead found it too big and given in to tipping instead … well these OXO Spice Jar Measuring Spoons you will have perfect measurements every time. With a shovel-shaped heads and with the flat edges it makes it perfect to scrape off when you get too much.
What I like about these spoons is the etched permanent markings and the fact you can easily take off what ever spoon you need from the ring and it also stores them all together.
Competition Time
So if you are wanting to end your battles with flicking past recipes, and or, over spicing your dishes here is a great prize for one lucky winner … as there is one set of each of these products up for grabs in the giveaway below thanks to the kinds folks at OXO!

I think my cooking disaster was when I was 15 and I made cookies for my then boyfriend. I thought I added 6 oz of sugar, and it was in fact salt!
oh my goodness, that is so so something i would do!
In high school chemistry, we were making solidified sucrose solution (hard candy), and we managed to set ours on fire. The flames were shooting out of our beaker without any warning. Luckily, we were all fine.
I am so sorry this made me giggle, thank goodness you were all ok!!
Pretty much everytime I cook rice there’s a disaster!! Undercooked or so overcooked it comes out in one mushy lump. The few times I’ve cooked it well it seems to be enough for 6 people, rather than the two I’m actually feeding!!
Carrie, I so have this too … its either perfect and enough to feed the street or its mush! … i do feel slightly relived that its not just me! (sorry) x
A Rolly Polly, it cracked & was hard & dry too
when I forgot to add the correct ingredients to a cake, lets just say not even I would eat it x
lol *snort* oh dear me, hope you had a go at an alternative one!
I can’t remember ever having a disaster.. sorry..:)
My Mum and Nan were good at being able to put things right if the recipe was taking a wrong turn.
The only disaster I have is Hubby trying to help out.. 😉
My bread generally turns out like a house brick; I don’t bother any more.
When I made profiteroles they didn’t rise for some reason
My cooking disaster to date is making pizza, I make a pretty good pizza lol (one thing I am proud of!!) one of my friends suggested that I cook directly on the cooking shelf in the oven rather than on a baking tray. I had friends over for dinner and cooked it this way and it all melted through the wire shelf and there was pizza & mozzarella everywhere in the oven, we had to order a take out :-/ x
