When it comes to moving entire household, family, and life from one house to another, there’s a lot of things you’re going to have to keep track of. Yes, you’ve marked the moving boxes out and packed relevantly. Yes, you’ve got a good haulage company on your side, to keep the ferrying back and forth to a minimum. And yes, you’ve come up with a system to stock the new place out with. But there might be one thing you’re forgetting…
And that is the fact that there’s plenty of admin involved in moving house, and you’re going to need to get this out of the way first – there’s a lot of paperwork and digging out old receipts and forms required here, and you’re going to want them over and done with as soon as possible! So here’s a quick reminder.
Have You Informed the Relevant Companies?
Whatever companies you owe bills to, as well as the post office, your insurance companies, your driving license provider, and the bank, are going to need to know you’re moving house, and when your official moving out date is. You don’t want your post headed to the wrong address, and you don’t want your bank statement and any account details being lost to the letterbox of your old accommodation! Not to mention, your license could very quickly be made invalid by a wrong address, and you don’t want to be stopped on the road with that information in your pocket.
Make sure you take these tasks into hand first, as you’re going to need plenty of time for them to update their systems and take your needs into account. Not to mention, your utility companies need to stop your energy payments at the right date, to make sure you’re never paying for a bit of electricity and gas that the new occupants have used themselves.
Have You Got a Wifi Signal?
Your new house needs to have a good connection to the outside world, and not just in the amount of amenities there are nearby to it. Your family probably relies on the wifi to get their work done, socialise with others, and have some fun – you don’t want a bad signal lagging your entire dynamic down, or stopping you from getting on with some necessary work!
So before you go, be sure to check available providers when moving house. You’re going to want a good deal out of the whole situation, and you don’t want to be spending on an internet and phone line provider that doesn’t even service the area you’re moving to.
There’s a lot of admin involved in moving home, and this was by no means a comprehensive list of all the tasks you’re going to have to get done before you go! Just make sure important ones like these are out of the way first, to make your transition as smooth and easy as it could possibly be.
