Since undertaking our house refurbishment last year I have discovered a new love for mirrors that I had not realised was there before this stage in my life.
Before now mirrors had just served a functionality in the house and never really been there for decoration or statement …. Which I must admit looking back on it now is slightly sad since they are both decorative and functional.
However mirrors can be fairly costly so when I discovered one second-hand on a Facebook while decorating our bedroom I jumped at buying it.
When we renovated our bedroom in favour of bigger and somewhat heavier furniture, along with going for a navy blue theme I needed to maximise the light in the room so it seemed like a good compromise.
Once the Mirror was installed I couldn’t believe how much it actually finished off the room and also that I had never really considered using them before in a room revamp …. and so a new love was born.
Since last year it would be fair to say that my new love of mirrors has become a little bit addictive and can often be found virtual shopping for new mirrors (much to hubs delight) as I tend to fill my basket online but not purchase since money has been pigeon hold for the imminent baby arrival instead, although with more and more people selling undated items I have spotted several mirrors on selling pages and the likes of e-bay so if you are looking for a style statement mirror I would certainly check those out online.
But what I have discovered since last year is most of my mirror love tends to be focused on a more art deco shapes and style, with is striking and quirky look there is something that makes me just wants it hanging on my walls.
Mind you my love for art deco is one thing that I am discovering I love around not just in my taste for mirrors …. As I would love to actually live in an art deco style house!
