As mad as it sounds coming from the women that in fairness would cringe at the thought of standing up in front of a crown to be heard in public (especially if I know those people) but the thought of having my say and maybe influencing the decision others make too is something I have loved and even now still do.
When I first discovered Market Research I was a single parent with a tiny tot and as much I hate to admit it .. I spent 5 years scanning EVERY barcode of everything I ever bought … and once a week sent my receipts to the company to confirm my scan all for free. I have also have been known to take part in focus groups with others to discuss a product or idea and these are normally lots of fun!
They weren’t paid and I am not sure why I even kept doing it for so long but it became a habit. I have to say campaigns these days are by far more participant friendly and even come in a large range of activities:
- Mystery shopping
- Video mystery shopping
- Market research (customer satisfaction surveys and exit polls)
I am also very pleased to say that most Market Research projects now compensate for your time too which is perfect and also why I started to partake in them again over the last few years.
As more and more Companies begin to understand the importance on keeping abreast of what is occurring for their customers, more are instigating research for their own business…. meaning more and more opportunities to earn for giving your opinion!
Have you ever taken part in Market Research?
