A year or so back I finally made the jump into sorting an office in the spare room.
My desk and storage cupboards joined the single bed and I finally had a place I could work and store my things.
However a few months ago we changed internet providers and when we did we discovered that the office/spare room was in fact now an internet black spot meaning I could no longer function even with range extenders the signal was not workable for an office
So before Christmas we decided that we needed to swap Jacobs bedroom and the office around. Giving him more space as the spare room/office was slightly bigger and giving me the office space with no spare bed!
We held off making any moves over Christmas but in January I finally got into the right mental head space to start the painting of both rooms.
Firstly I painted the current office/spare room for Jacob after getting rid of the spare bed in my Women’s Aid Reverse Advent at Christmas. Once his new room was painted I moved him into his room and the office was set to be next to take shape.
I tend to shy away around ‘colours’ in smaller rooms but had been hankering after dove grey for quite some time and had fallen in love with using grey in other home office spaces so decided to go for it.
I knew that the furniture would be white and hoped that the contrast between the grey and white would give it a really clean look and not make it too dark.
During the painting stage I did begin to have some doubts that this would pull together how I wanted it in my head but thankfully I kept on painting.
After some playing around with layout I decided to make the full length wall the main office set up leaving me with a fully blank wall behind me so if I decided to do any vlogging I could have a plain wall behind or set up a backdrop if I wanted too.
The final pieces of the office makeover has been finding some finishing touches that work well in the room and define its space and also to have the desk adapted to fit the wall meaning I had to purchase a second larger desk top and my Brother in Law came round and fitted it perfectly to the bases I had for it.
The accessories are all rather eclectic but my favourite is the personalised sign from Gifted Occasion who made this specially for my new office and I am thrilled with it. I personally think it finishes off my office space perfectly. The review of the sign can be found on my other site The Oliver’s Madhouse soon.
