A Little while back I was asked if I had ever tried Goodlife foods vegetarian foods and I have to admit I was a hard and fast meat eater so Vegetarian food had never shown up on my radar.
Over recent months however I have taken it upon myself to start being more aware of what we were eating as a family and being more pro active at balancing our foods.
So when were asked to give Goodlife foods a go and actually try them I will be honest I was excited to give them a go and make some vegetarian changes. However this was down to the taste however since no one is going to make permeant changes to their foods without them being tasty changes.
We purchased a really good selection of the Goodlife foods offerings from Sainsbury’s. Although going to store had more on offer than online for us so it’s worth baring that in mind if you are wanting to try some out.
First we tried the microwavable vegetable masala with cauliflower rice which really is a whole meal in itself and I have to say this was the first time I had tried cauliflower rice which is AMAZING! i loved the whole thing. I have been trying for months to cut the carbs and this rice is a great way to do it!
Its also 3 of your 5 a day which is super news and the tasty non hot vegetable curry was even enjoyed by our 6 year old as it is very tasty.
Next up was the swap from standout meat sausages to french bean and spinach versions and I’m afraid these didn’t go down quite so well taste wise which was purely personal taste, but we did love the fact you could slightly brown them like mean based sausages!
I am intending to try their tomato and mozzarella sausages instead as these flavours are family favourites.
Our third product to trial were the super tasty Falafel with Chickpea, Cumin & Coriander balls and I have to say these were the one item I thought I would hate but in fact these were amazing.
They have a super texture and these are set to be joining out Christmas buffet table foods as they are great with dips and snacking and even the toddler couldn’t get enough of them!
The outside has a hard crust and the insides are fairly soft so we were able to cut them easily for Jacob to try.
By the 4th product I was feeling good about making some changes on a permeant basis to meat free swaps and the last product we tried, Mushroom and spinach kiev was AMAZING! they were super crispy on the outside and soft with a garlicky inner that had me even considering swapping from my normal chicken version to this one.
I honestly thought that meat free products would be bland and boring but they certainly aren’t! all the products were tasty and flavourful even if one of the products wasn’t to our taste.
I love that the Goodlife products have no artificial additives, preservatives or colourings and offer British vegetable in their products.
